How to cook basmati rice – perfect basmati rice every time!

This is a fool proof way on how to cook basmati rice. This is the perfect basmati rice method. It’s light and fuffy and does not stick together.

You can even go one better and try out adding one our perfect basmati rice flavourings, drastically changing a normal dish into a qualitity dish and is sure to impress friends and loved ones!

This ‘how to cook basmati rice’ receipe serves 2 people based on 65g of uncooked basmati rice, to increase , just add an extra 65g per person.

Ingredients
  • 130g Plain basmati rice (65g rice per person)
  • Water
Preparation method
Step 1 Measure out you basmati rice and rinse under a cold running tap until the water runs clear. Mean while fill the kettle with water and bring to the boil rinsing rice
Step 2 Add the basmati rice to a pot and cover with cold water. Turn on high heat to bring the boil.  Boil rice for no longer the 5 minutes. boiling rice
Step 3 Just as the rice starts to feel cooked (plumpy) remove from the heat and drain into a metal colender. steam rice
Step 4 Fill the same pot that you have just used to cook the rice with the boiling water from the kettle ( 2 inches shold be enougth).
Step 5 Place the colender on top of the pot of boiling water. Making sure that the colender is not touching the water and cover with tin foil. Let the water boil in the pot for 8 minutes then remove from heat. covered steaming rice
Step 6 If you are not quite ready to serve your rice you can leave the rice in the colender over the pot and it will stay warm for 20 minutes or so.  If you are ready to serve then take the colender off of the pot and set a side.  drain the water from the pot and pour the rice from the colender back into the empty pot and “fluf up” with a fork.

Step 8 Now all you have to do is serve your rice and enjoy!
